THE PROBLEMS OF IDENTIFICATION AND SELF-IDENTIFICATION OF RUSSIAN INTELLIGENTSIA

Abstract

The article deals with intelligentsia's self-identification within the dichotomy of «identification - estrangement»: on the one hand, with power (the state), and, on the other, - with the object of care and worship - the people. The author points to the inherent controversy of self-identification within this social group, - something that has determined its conceptual dualism reflected in the Russian social thought.
