TO THE ISSUE OF RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN SHARI'AH, MOSLEM LAW (FIQH) AND ADAT IN CHECHNYA

Abstract

The article explores the methodological ambiguity and the need to distinguish the notion of Shari'ah and fiqh when dealing with Moslem law. According to the author, it is fiqh that provides a precise formulation of relations between Islam and adat (the adapt law). The author underscores that Islamic principles of a tolerant attitude to adat in the history of Chechnya played an important part in imbuing the Chechens with Islam.
