Modern day computer technology skills of elderly people as a condition of their successful social and economic integration

Abstract

Given transition to postindustrial economy, accompanied with a dramatic population aging, we have to revise our views on disablement. The later is more and more often linked with incapacity to retraining and getting new skills. Basing on ‘Eurobarometer in Russia' survey data the level of mastery of new technologies by people over 50 years old was measured. The results have proven that theage is only the secondary factor, determining low rates of innovative technologies mastery byelderly people. The more significant causes turns out to be education and social capital; their significance raises with the age.
