SOCIO-ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT OF ONE-INDUSTRY CITIES IN RUSSIA IN THE CONTEXT OF ECONOMY'S GLOBALIZATION

Abstract

Globalization of the economy is a controversial process. In one-industry cities in Russia it results in unemployment and a «brain drain», but it also opens opportunities to resolve these problems. Sustainable development of one-industry cities is primarily achieved by means of arrangements that are not connected with foreign economic activities. In the situation of a world economic crisis competent management acquires becomes decisive in its importance.
