Abstract

This article discusses the latest trends in studies of the history of interactions between society and the state known American political scientist and anthropologist James C. Scott, presented in his recent books and lectures. As the process of domestication in the Neolithic led to the first states? What is the essence of the states associated with permanent settlement projects? What is the so-called history of the state and the civilization to anarchy and barbarism? — Scott’s answers and his hypotheses are critically analyzed.
