Protest Politicization of Adolescents in Depoliticized Society. Article is dedicated to the process of protest politicization of adolescents as those who are situated on the borderline between childhood and adulthood

Abstract

The research is based on in-depth interviews with adolescents involved in the protest in 2011-12 or supported this protest movement. Politicization here is considered as the process overlapping the growing-up process in private and public spaces. The research discovered that the self-dependency skills (samostoyatelnost) develop faster in private sphere rather than in public one. In public realm even already politicized adolescents are often dependent upon authoritative adults. Nevertheless, such a dependency (nesamostoyatelnost) in public sphere often coexists with the teenager's radicalism and their efforts to express themselves in politics. Infantilization of adolescence and representation of them as «political becomings» and objects of care are defined as one of the mechanisms of depoliticization reproduction.
